Gladstone Ports Corporation’s (GPC) Gladstone, Rockhampton and Bundaberg port facilities are home to many different types of megafauna or large animals. 

The species of megafauna commonly found in our regions are: 

• ​shorebirds

• turtles

• cetaceans

• fish

• dugongs

• crustaceans.

We conduct regular research and monitoring programs to provide information on the health of our megafauna and their habitats to ensure their long-term conservation in our areas.

Gladstone's Key Fish Stock Data Project 2018

The Key Fish Stock Data Project focuses on developing the capacity to predict fish stocks which in turn provides fishers with key information when planning their fishing ventures and allows managers to proactively manage fish stocks.

This exciting initiative has been developed by Infofish Australia, a company leading the way in researching fish species in conjunction with communities for over 30 years and is supported through our Community Investment Program.
